Abstract

Analysis of the strength of the design is very important to avoid the failure of a design. Von Mises analysis is used to predict the failure of a product design. A portable mini crane design is used to assist UMKM in the process of moving products from one place to another. The focus of analysis on this portable mini crane is the frame of the portable nini crane because the frame will receive the most significant load. The purpose of this stress analysis is to determine the stress, displacement, and safety factors that occur in the frame of the portable mini crane and to avoid the failure of a portable mini crane product design that has been designed. The analysis of this portable mini crane frame is carried out with several variations of loading, namely 100N to 1000N loads with the frame material being carbon steel. The analysis was carried out using the Autodesk Inventor 2020 software. The results obtained based on the von Mises stress analysis are that the frame is still safe to use until the loading is 700 N because the maximum stress that occurs in the frame is 348.4 Mpa which is still below the allowable stress of the carbon steel material used, which is 350 Mpa.
