Abstract

This research aims to develop and implement an Internet of Things (IoT) system that can enhance energy efficiency in the case study building of the Mechanical Engineering Control Lab at Bali State Polytechnic. Commercial buildings, such as educational laboratories, often experience significant energy wastage due to inefficient management. Therefore, this research seeks to address this issue by leveraging IoT technology. The proposed system utilizes smart sensors installed throughout the control lab to measure and monitor the energy consumption of electronic equipment such as lights, air conditioning units, and other laboratory appliances. The data generated by these sensors is then transmitted to a central control hub through the IoT network. This research serves as an example of how IoT technology can be used to improve energy efficiency in commercial buildings, such as educational laboratories. It will help reduce energy waste and operational costs while enhancing the comfort and security of building users. Thus, this research not only provides a concrete solution for energy efficiency in the case study Mechanical Engineering Control Lab at Bali State Polytechnic but also illustrates the significant potential of IoT technology in addressing similar issues in various other commercial buildings. After the implementation of the IoT system in the faculty room of the Control Laboratory at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bali State Polytechnic, the research results indicate improved efficiency compared to conditions without the IoT system. In addition to enhancing efficiency, this system also offers user convenience. Users can monitor and control electronic equipment remotely through a mobile application, providing flexibility in managing energy consumption. This not only reduces operational costs but also contributes to reducing the environmental impact associated with excessive energy consumption.
