Abstract

The magnetic induction braking system is a technological innovation with significant potential for application in everyday life, particularly in industry and transportation, which require a non-contact, efficient, and low-maintenance braking system. The application of this technology is considered capable of reducing operational losses, increasing equipment efficiency, and supporting the stability of the overall mechanical system performance. However, its application in Indonesia is still limited and requires further development. This study aims to analyze the effect of voltage variations applied to an electric motor on changes in rotational speed (Rpm) in a magnetic induction braking system. The induction braking system works based on the electromagnetic principle, where the braking force is generated from eddy currents that arise due to the interaction between a magnetic field and a rotating metal conductor. In this study, the voltage was varied from 2 volts to 12 volts, and its effect on rpm at various current values (amperes) was observed. The test results show that the higher the applied voltage, the greater the braking force produced, resulting in a significant decrease in the motor rpm. However, the decrease in rpm is not linear due to the influence of magnetic saturation and load characteristics on the system. The data obtained were analyzed quantitatively to observe the trend of decreasing rpm with each increase in voltage, as well as to evaluate the efficiency of the induction braking system under various operating conditions. This research is expected to contribute to the development of efficient and low-maintenance non-contact braking systems in industrial and automotive applications.
