Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of formal and informal communication on employee productivity at The Kayon Resort Ubud. Internal communication plays an essential role in improving coordination, motivation, and achieving company goals. The study uses a quantitative method with a descriptive-verificative approach. The population consists of 63 employees from 9 departments selected using saturated sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed with multiple linear regression using SPSS software. The results show that both formal and informal communication positively and significantly affect employee productivity, both partially and simultaneously. Formal communication is carried out through structured channels such as briefings and SOPs, while informal communication includes spontaneous interactions that build closeness and ease problem-solving. These two communication types complement one another in shaping a supportive and productive work environment. They influence key productivity indicators, such as work quality, quantity, timeliness, effectiveness, and independence. The findings suggest that companies should apply a balanced communication strategy to enhance employee performance. This study provides useful insights for hospitality management in improving internal communication as part of human resource development.
