Abstract
In maintaining the reliability of electrical substation systems, lightning arresters play a crucial role as the primary line of defense, safeguarding substation main transmission materials. This research aimed to evaluate the maintenance methods for the lightning arrester on the Kapal Tanah Lot 1 bay line at the Kapal substation. The evaluation included Level-1 inspection, Level-2 inspection (consisting of thermovision testing and resistive leakage current testing), and Level-3 inspection (involving insulation resistance testing, grounding testing, and surge counter testing of the lightning arrester). The results of calculations, analysis, and comparisons with the SK-DIR 520 standard were obtained. Based on the testing and calculations, the Level-1 inspection indicated that the lightning arrester was in good condition. For Level-2 inspection, the thermovision testing showed an average of 2oC, and the resistive leakage current testing averaged 39,73 μA. In Level-3 inspection, the insulation resistance testing averaged 15,5 GΩ, the grounding testing averaged 0,075 Ω, and the surge counter testing indicated that the surge counter was functioning correctly. These results comply with the established standard, thereby ensuring the safety and security of workers, the environment, and the substation system itself.
