Abstract

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A MANUAL COCONUT HUSK PEELING TOOL. This final project focuses on the design and construction of a manual coconut husk peeling tool aimed at improving the efficiency of the peeling process. The tool is designed using a lever mechanism equipped with sharp blades, making it easier and faster to peel coconut husks compared to traditional methods using a crowbar. The study covers the stages of design, fabrication, and testing of the tool under real working conditions. The test results demonstrate that this manual coconut husk peeling tool can reduce peeling time by up to three times faster than traditional methods, from an average of 3 minutes to 1 minute per coconut. In addition, the tool also reduces the risk of injury to users and provides cleaner peeling results, enhancing the quality of the coconut fiber which can be more optimally utilized. With this manual coconut husk peeling tool, it is expected to increase the productivity of coconut fiber craftsmen and encourage the utilization of coconut husk waste into value-added products. This research contributes to the development of simple, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective technology for the coconut processing industry
