Abstract

The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in global tourism, generating significant economic benefits while simultaneously creating environmental challenges such as excessive waste, high energy consumption, and carbon emissions. In Indonesia, Lombok has positioned itself as a competitive MICE destination through international events such as the Mandalika MotoGP. However, the implementation of sustainable practices remains limited. This study, entitled “Innovating Green Events: A Sustainable MICE Model for the Future at Bading Production Central Lombok”, aims to analyze current green event practices and develop an innovative, sustainability-oriented MICE model. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and focus group discussions involving managers, staff, government representatives, and academics. The Business Model Canvas (BMC) framework and sustainable event indicators were used to evaluate existing practices and identify gaps. The findings indicate that while Bading Production has adopted initial efforts such as engaging local vendors and promoting waste reduction, challenges persist in standardizing procedures, participant awareness, and comprehensive sustainability integration. This research proposes a Sustainable MICE Model that emphasizes eco-friendly materials, waste minimization, energy efficiency, digital transformation, and collaborative stakeholder engagement. Theoretically, the study enriches literature on sustainable tourism and event management, while practically, it offers a strategic roadmap for Bading Production and similar event organizers to strengthen competitiveness through responsible and sustainable practices.
